BLESSING 1:
The question had been gnawing at me.
Inquiring of my life coach, I asked: how do I teach my kids to have a quiet time?
Her response was unexpected.
“Teach them that it is a time to receive. Tell them, ‘Let God love on you. Let Him hug you, let Him hold you. Experience God’s love for you. Rest in His love.’”
Whoa. “I don’t do that,” I thought.
She continued, “Relate it to cuddling with Daddy or Mommy. Picture God as an even better Daddy or Mommy than we are. Where you can feel His presence and love.”
The next part went straight to my recovering perfectionist and performance seeking heart, “We don’t want them to see it as something they do. They don’t have to perform for God or make something happen. Simply rest in His love and let Him love on you.” (emphasis mine)
Momma, think about your beautiful children. Do you love them? Do they need to DO anything to receive that love from you?
Of course not!!
You, dear Momma, are passionately loved in that same way. Without performance.
“The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.” (Zeph 3:17)
The Lord delights in you.
He loves you.
He rejoices over you with singing!
Have you ever rejoiced over one of your little ones with a song?
“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)
Jesus died for you.
The greatest Love, laid down His life. For you.
You are loved.
Momma, you are loved.
Let God love on you. Let Him hug you. Let Him hold you.
Can you imagine it?
Receive.
You are loved.
