“In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” (John 14:2-3) There are many other references to house and home in the Bible: Jesus talked about how foxes have holes and birds have nests, even the animals have homes. Yet the Son of Man had no place to lay His head. (Luke 9:58) He often enjoyed meals in homes like in Luke 14:1 when Jesus ate in the house of a Pharisee. After healing a demon possessed man in Mark 5:19, Jesus sent him home to his family to tell them what the Lord had done for him. Sometimes home refers to our physical body, the tent in which we now reside (2 Cor 5:1). Proverbs 14:1 says the wise woman builds her house, while the foolish one tears hers down. These scriptures just scratch the surface. The foam of the mug full of milk. A quick search reveals over 1000 references to house and home in the Bible. I have much to learn. As I dive in and explore, would you learn along with me? After researching many of these scriptures, here are some questions they raised:
The Lord is your Teacher. You are His disciple, a learner. Will you learn with me how to cultivate the kind of home that brings the Lord glory, because it looks more and more like Him? What stood out to you from what the Lord says about home? Please share your thoughts in the comments. © Sanctuary of Home™ All Rights Reserved
